A Tribute Page to...

Marcia Hayes
Beloved Mother, Grandmother,
Daughter, Sister, and Friend.
August 28, 1949 - April 12, 2003
Here is what was written about Mrs. Hayes in her
Obituary.
Marcia Darlene (Clipper) Hayes was born August
28, 1949, at Tyler, Minnesota, to Keith and Dorothy (Rogers)
Clipper. She died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at her home in Elkton,
South Dakota, of kidney cancer.
Marcia attended Lake Benton Elementary School
until 1956. She attended Verdi Elementary and graduated from Verdi
Public High School in 1967. She attended Pillsbury Bible College
for two years.
On August 2, 1969, Marcia married Bob Hayes at
First Baptist Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. To this union three
children were born: Kimberly, Kristie, and Kelley. Marcia and Bob
lived in Hadley, Michigan, from 1969 until 1982 and in Murfreesboro,
Tennessee, form 1982 until 2001. Marcia resided in Elkton since May
1, 2001. She was very active with her family and church and
especially enjoyed music.
This gives you a little bit of information about
her. However, it really doesn't do justice to her memory. As
anyone that knew Marcia will tell you. She was one of the
kindest, and most Godly ladies I have ever known. She has 3 of the
most Godly daughters I have ever met as well. I hope to, with this
page, add memories from other people but for now, all I can rightly
give you some of the memories that I have of Marcia.
I wish I could give you all of the memories that
I have, however, my fingers would fall off. I can tell you this.
Marcia was one of the most talented piano players that I have gotten
to hear. She didn't waste her talents trying to make money, she
always wanted to use them to glorify God, and did it very well. I
believe that anytime she played, God looked down and smiled. There
was one time that she needed me to record some music for her to send
to one of her daughters. It was such a fun time for me because I
felt like she was playing a special concert just for me. Here is
one of my favorite songs that she played. It is called
"We Shall Behold Him."
Marcia, not only used her talents to give glory to God, but
was willing to teach others to do the same. Her biggest musical
accomplishment, in my opinion, were her daughters, Kim, Kristie, and
Kelley. If you don't believe me, just listen to them do
"I Owe It All To You Lord" with
Marcia playing the piano for them.
One other memory I have is at the 2002 Halloween
get together we have at church. I was running around snapping
pictures for the website and she was running one of the many games
that we had for the kids that night. Hers was something to do with
pencils, and she jokingly stuck 2 pencils up her nose and I got a
picture of it. I hope to get the families ok to put that one up
here for all to see, but in case I don't, trust me it was very
funny.
Marcia's Son-In-Law Shawn Applegate wrote a
poem for her on December 18th, 2002. I have been given his
permission to put it on the website for you all to share.
A
Unique Woman: Today, Yesterday, and Forever
Mom, you are wonderful in so many ways,
For me to list all of you special traits would
take many days.
It was ten years ago, that you first cane into
my life,
As I was introduced to you daughter, who is now
my lovely wife.
You have always been so selfless, putting
others first,
And for principles of God, you have always had
a thirst.
You have raised three wonderful women, who
contribute so much to this earth,
They are all a model of you, women of
extraordinary worth.
I have so many wonderful memories of times I
have spent with you,
From licking the beaters, or our exciting road
trips, or getting so frustrated playing Phase 10 that I turned blue.
You are meek, mild, and giving, always keeping
your goals in sight,
And you are a gentle soldier, always fighting
for what’s right.
You are so beautiful on the outside and on the
in,
When I think of all the fun times we have
shared, I catch myself displaying a grin.
Times have gotten tough, your health hasn’t
been the best,
There are times in life when things happen, to
see if we can pass the test.
God has allowed this adversity in your life,
for a special reason,
Our hearts have all been focused, on you this
Christmas season.
Just remember, A wise master doesn’t waste His
servants time,
God is using you because you have proven
yourself faithful time, after time, after time.
I love you mom, and this I want you to know,
That whenever think about you, my heart will
begin to glow.
With
this last line I will go,
But I
always want you to know,
That
you have affected my life in such a meaningful way,
And
with that I have to say,
That
I love you mom!
With Love, Shawn 12-18-02
As I get more memories from family and friends I
will post them here for you to read, so you can get to know her. If
